A Lesson in Radical Responsibility and Reclaiming Your Power

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that Bridgerton Season 3 has taken the world by storm. The Regency-era drama, with its swoon-worthy dukes, scandalous gossip, and forbidden love affairs (not to mention delicious inclusivity and representation), has captured the hearts of millions. But this season is about more than love, sex, and drama. At its core, it’s about taking radical responsibility for one’s self, which leads to reclaiming your power and leading a life you’re madly in love with regardless of what others think, say or do.

A story only becomes the truth when you believe it to be the truth. This can be positive or negative. If you tell yourself that you’re unworthy, that you don’t matter, that becomes your reality. But what if you were to shift that narrative? What if you were to take ownership of your choices, behaviors, and actions? That’s when true transformation occurs.

For me, Bridgerton Season 3 is the ultimate tale of reclamation, embodied in the character of Penelope Featherington. For the first two seasons, Penelope believed that she wasn’t worthy, that she didn’t matter. She started Lady Whistledown as a way to express her frustration and gain a little power. But by the end of Season 3, she doesn’t really give a fuck what anybody else thinks because she knows she is in control of herself and her actions and her choices. Although she loved Colin and doesn’t want to hurt him, she’s choosing things that bring her joy and is willing to fight for them.

Helping usher people into this realization is the deepest passion of my life. Much like Penelope, as soon as you take radical responsibility for your choices, behaviors, and actions, you then gain the upper hand. You shift from being a victim of circumstance to the architect of your destiny. You go from unsure to unstoppable.
