"It's about showing yourself." Annie Ruggles, The Brave Files Podcast, Episode 179, Legitimizing Bravery

Top Takeaways From This Episode:

  • Your name is your title. It’s how you declare yourself to the world.
  • It’s hard to let go of moments where we feel rejected or embarrassed. But just because it hurts a lot doesn’t mean it has to matter a lot.
  • What other people think of you is none of your business.
  • If the thing scares us the most, it’s usually a pretty good indicator that it’s something we ought to try.
  • Everything you want is just on the other side of uncomfortable.
  • After a while of doing something brave, it becomes effortless.
  • Feeling any of your feelings is brave, but especially allowing yourself to feel fear.

Show Notes:

Annie Ruggles is an entrepreneur, founder of The Non-Sleazy Sales Academy, and host of the Too Legitimate to Quit podcast. For most of her life, Annie though bravery was only for heroes but, these days, she recognizes her own bravery.

Annie believes, and we agree, if you think an act can only be brave when it’s on the grand scale, you’ll spend your whole life looking. For Annie, it’s all about staying mindful.

Even though Annie still struggles with embarrassment, rejection, and self-doubt, she makes a conscious effort to recognize her wins alongside the losses. Because in the grand scheme of things, difficult, uncomfortable feelings don’t have to limit you. The pain just means you’re growing.
