Top Takeaways From This Episode:

  • You get to rewrite your story as your life and priorities change.
  • Real growth happens when you stay in that messy conflict and work your way through it.
  • It’s brave and vulnerable to write – no matter what you’re writing about!
  • There’s so much power in knowing you are choosing bravely.
  • There is a gift in the pause, in that time of reflection.
  • Bravery is about trusting yourself and knowing it’s all going to be okay.

Show Notes:

As a child, Alexia Vernon loved to succeed – as long as the focus was on her accomplishments and not actually on her.  She created a mental story that she wasn't good enough after a traumatic speaking experience as a child.

Unfortunately, this mental dialogue continued throughout most of her childhood. Eventually, however, and somewhat ironically – – she found herself in the speaking circuit as a young adult. But even then, she viewed her speeches simply as good performances and continued to discredit her personal worth.

Mastering Her Mindset

Over time, Alexia learned to surrender into her most authentic self. She began shedding the idea of “performing at her best” and embraced herself as she was. This didn’t come without its challenges, of course. Alexia constantly battled between who she thought she was supposed to be and who she knew she was deep inside.

If we're all honest with ourselves,  this is a battle we all face at times. It’s so easy to let society dictate our path. But it's our responsibility to choose bravely and step into our own power – no matter what that looks like.

Creating Life On Her Own Terms

After years of what she describes as “circling around the perimeter of her purpose,” Alexia decided to build the business she truly desired. She and her husband began fully integrating their business and family life. They held strong to their core values, shifted their mindset, and stepped bravely down their new path.

Once Alexia cultivated the mindset and developed the habits to be able to work for herself, she became super passionate about showing up for others. Subsequently and unsurprisingly, her business blossomed! She now uses her own power to lead the way for other women, helping them to unapologetically use their own voices and find empowerment within.
