Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith is board-certified internal medicine physician. She's also an author, speaker and extpert on the importance of “sacred rest.”

 

After experience dibilitating and terrifying, personal, burnout, Sandra now knows that self-care are vitally important to living a healthy life.

 

Now, she focuses on teaching the next generation of doctors the importance of treating the whole person – mind, body, and spirit. Additionally, her work is centered around the necessity of various types of rest, and it’s changing the way the medical world looks at healing.

 

Facing Burnout

 

Have you ever felt so exhausted that no amount of sleep would make a difference? That’s when you know something bigger is at play. It’s not simply about getting enough sleep. In truth, this is exactly what Saundra experienced.

 

After facing severe exhaustion and burnout in her own life, Saundra made the decision to focus on finding harmony between the professional and personal aspects of her life. As a physician, she was accustomed to treating the body. It wasn’t until she began treating the mental, emotional, and spiritual sides of herself that she discovered the importance of rest.

 

Rest is about more than sleep.

 

Overall, rest is all about intention. It’s giving a truthful no instead of a reluctant yes. It's taking a break during your workday and enjoying the world around you. And, it's so much more than getting a good night’s sleep.
