They try to shut you up because your voice is powerful.

You are a powerful force of nature. I know you are because if you weren’t, you wouldn’t be here reading this. I only attract powerful women into my energy field.

You Are Both the Magician and the Magic

You are everything all rolled into one. You are the universe and the universe is you. YOUR POWER IS BLINDING – but you have to believe in it.

A magician without magic is just someone standing there doing tricks. And magic without a magician just sits there, unclaimed, doing nothing for anybody.

The magic is your energy, your intuition, your gut knowing, the truths you tell yourself, the thing in you that senses what’s true before your brain catches up. You didn’t earn it. You didn’t build it in a workshop. It’s just yours, the way your heartbeat is yours.

The magician is the part of you that does something with it. Makes the choice. Says the word. Takes the action. Casts the damn spell instead of just thinking about casting it.

Most of us get stuck because we think we have to go find our power somewhere out there. A teacher, a guru, a partner, a permission slip. We go looking for the magician, or we go looking for the magic, like they’re two separate things we’re missing.

They’re not missing. You are not half of a powerful thing waiting to be completed. You are the power.

So why are you sometimes stuck in an imposter syndrome vortex? Why do you still think you need permission to wield your gorgeous power? Why do you think that nurturing yourself, reveling in joy, choosing your peace is something for other people but not for you?

Because this bullshit patriarchal society told you to doubt yourself. But let’s stop that shit right now, ok?

Yes, It’s History, But It’s Also a Pattern

We are the witches they didn’t burn.

They weren’t burning random women during the witch trials. They were burning the ones with resources. The healers. The seers. The ones other people came to for help, for medicine, for truth. Power made these women dangerous. They were a threat to the order and power of men. So they got burned.

I wish I could say that’s ancient history, but we all know that’s not true. An entire world was then built on a patriarchal foundation that punished women who wielded their power and spoke openly about it. And it’s that programming that has you second-guessing yourself, but that’s bullshit, and deep down you know it.

It’s time for you to remember who the fuck you are.

Ok. That sounds all fine and good, but perhaps you’re wondering how you can do that. Let’s get into it.

It Starts With Your Words

A lot of us reach for the word “magic” when we talk about taking our power back. For some women I think it’s because magic feels beyond our world of awareness. Unknowable and thus, not as much of a risk. For some it feels bold and brave. Maybe a little scary and that might just be the point. For many, magic feels like the only thing that really fits. There is magic all around us, if we pay close enough attention.

Some of us mean it literally: Wiccan practice, ritual, the real thing. But most of us mean something simpler. We mean the moment we stop asking permission and start choosing for ourselves and owning our massive power without guilt or shame.

I found that out again recently, sitting in a very progressive group, bringing my full, radical self to the table. I said the word “prayer” didn’t feel good to me and I preferred to use the word “spells.” One woman visibly recoiled.

There is an old version of me who would have shrunk a little and thought I needed to pull back, maybe soften the language and try to make her feel better. But that’s not what I did.

The version of me that showed up that day did the opposite. I thought: this is exactly why I need to go harder.

I’ve decided it’s time to be even more radical and brazen. To be so vocal and present that it completely repels the people who are not for me and calls in those who are. I am not a centrist, and I don’t attract centrist clients. And I realized that I need to clear out anyone who isn’t aligned to make more space for those of you who are.

WE ARE FUCKING POWERFUL.

It doesn’t really matter what word you use. Spell. Prayer. Manifestation. Intention. Faith. They’re all doing the same job: you deciding to believe something is possible, and then behaving as if it’s true. What you believe to be true is true. That’s the way neuroscience works. What you seek you find, what you focus on grows and what you believe deeply to be the truth – becomes your truth.

So choose wisely.

All change starts from a place of awareness and claiming something, believing in the possibility of the change and acting as if. So it’s fine if you want to call it prayer, spells, magic, faith as long as you show up!

The Catch

But there’s a catch, and it’s an important one.

Your power must be wielded with you as the center of it. Taking radical responsibility for yourself. The only thing you can control or change in the world is you. Your own thoughts, choices, actions, and behaviors. And when we try to get in the business of changing other people, shit goes sideways fast.

I watched a horror movie with my daughter this summer called Obsession. It was terrifying. The plot was twisted but simple. A man wishes that the woman he loves would love him more than anything else in the world. The wish works. It does not go well, because taking away someone else’s free will is always going to be a bad fucking idea.

The moral is the one thing every version of this practice, spell, prayer, manifestation, whatever you call it, has in common. We must wield our power for good, and that only works when it’s aimed at you.

You can’t spell your way into someone else’s choices. You can’t pray someone into loving you, changing, showing up differently, becoming who you want them to be. I mean, you can try, but it won’t work. It’s not pure of heart. There’s no consent involved.

Even when I’m doing NLP / Subconscious reprogramming with a client the very first thing I ask is “is it ok with your unconscious mind for you to make this change today and for you to be consciously aware of it?” Because consent is the heartbeat of change and growth. It must be the center point.

This Work is an Inside Job.

The point is where we aim the work. Real power, real magic, real faith, whatever you want to call it, has to stay pointed at yourself. This work is an inside job. Your thoughts. Your choices. Your actions. Your behavior. That’s the only territory you actually govern. Everything else is someone else’s, and you can let go of that responsibility.

So the questions worth asking aren’t about anyone else. Let’s focus on you and your wildly abundant power.

  • Who do I have to be to get the results I desire?
  • What do I need to change? Why?
  • Where can I be more loving to bring in more love?
  • Where can I bring more joy?
  • How do I want to grow and how do I want to feel in the process?
  • What am I willing to give up on or stop thinking to create a more abundant path?

This cannot be about what someone else wants you to do. Not what someone else wants you to be. Not what someone else wants you to have or feel or become.

Just YOU. Just your own becoming.

That’s taking radical responsibility for yourself. That’s faith in the most honest sense: trusting yourself enough to do the work on your own life and let everyone else do theirs.

Remember Who You Are

It’s time to remember who the fuck you are.

Imagine not waiting for permission. You can see it, can’t you? Trusting yourself and stepping into your power.  You can feel it, can’t you? The expansiveness of being your most aligned, wonderful self.

Perhaps the permission was always yours to give, and you’ve been withholding it from yourself. Are you willing to stop that today?

You get to take up space. You get to be loud. You get to want more joy and then go get it. You get to be the healer, the seer, the one they used to burn, walking around in broad daylight, completely unafraid.

You are the magician and the magic in your own life. You wield all the power.
